Youth Dog Trial

Introducing young handlers to the joy of working dogs.

Spring Lake Success Wildlife Area, 28890 Avenue 176, Strathmore, CA 93267 Free for youth participants

About this event

The Youth Dog Trial is a bird dog training event built for young handlers and their families. Guided by experienced mentors, participants learn how trained bird dogs work in the field, in a supportive, low-pressure setting that emphasizes patience, safety, and the bond between handler and dog. As part of the training experience, youth participants also have the opportunity to hunt pheasants over the trained dogs. No experience is necessary, and youth without a dog can be paired with a mentor and a trained dog for the day.
